If you are a small business owner, you are a sales professional. Of course, if you are one such as a real estate agent, new car salesmen, new car saleswomen, financial advisor, insurance agent, it goes without saying that you are one. Even if you have a sales force, your sales professionalism will always be present. So are you purposeful when it comes to sales success?
Margaret Thatcher identified success as "a mixture of having a flair for the thing that you are doing; knowing that it is not enough, that you have got to have hard work and a certain sense of purpose."
So what is your purpose as a sales professional?
- To make money?
- To help people?
- To work this job until something better comes along?
We all share some purpose when it comes to selling. What most people forget is that selling is a natural as breathing. Only for sales professionals is that they get paid for their efforts. People are always trying to sell something to someone else from a political idea to themselves as a potential date if not mate. The closer they are to their purpose the more successful they are.
Sometimes what happens is that they are viewed as being pushy when they really are just purposely passionate. These individuals believe so much in what they are doing they forget how other people may view their actions. They need to temper their passions and take time to listen to their prospects.
Purposeful sales professionals work very hard in doing what they are dong. They combine their flair, their personal sales style, with their exceptional marketing and selling skills to achieve the goal to increase sales.
If you are a professional sales person, maybe you should take some time to write down your purpose statement. Can you answer the question: Why are you here at this point in time? Then can identify what gifts you bring to the table of life? Who knows by taking such a simple action, may help you achieve even more sales?
